Romney Steele is the cook, and author of two cookbooks: My Nepenthe and Plum Gorgeous. She grew up at the legendary Nepenthe restaurant in Big Sur, started by her grandparents in 1949. She has lived and cooked in Oakland for over 15 years. As a writer she has contributed articles and recipes to national magazines, including Bon APPETIT and Saveur.
Steven Day is the farmer, educator, and a volunteer recovery diver for the Alameda sherriff's department. Originally from Chicago, and raised in Memphis, Steven has lived and worked in Oakland since the mid 1990's. For many years he taught in Oakland public schools, and mentored at-risk youth and youth offenders. He spearheads our mission to work with youth in our community, building relationships through farming. 
Steven and Romney spent a year in Marshall, Ca as part of a community oyster farm where they learned all aspects of oyster farming from seeding to cultivation.
